THE SNOWBALL MANUAL RIPPING A CD Firstly, make sure there is an audio CD in the CDROM drive of your system. On the main-menu (blue button, top-left) click "Rip from Audio CD...". Alternatively, double-press "C". Either option will open the Ripper Track-Adder. |
The Ripper Track-Adder is divided into two panels. On the left is Source of new tracks, in this case the audio CD. On the right is the Target for the audio CD tracks, showing how the tracks will appear in your collection. When the Track-Adder opens, it automatically loads the details of any audio CD in the drive, and displays the tracks found. You can re-load the CD details at any time using the Read audio track details option from the large tools button in the top-left of the window. If the audio CD is a production CD, the CD track details can be loaded from the Internet, so you don't have to type them in. Make sure the Search Internet for album details box is checked. To add all of the tracks to your Target tree, select the album or artist in the Source tree and click the Add All button. The CD tracks will be copied to the target tree on the right. Click the Start button to begin ripping. |
|
The Set MP3 Tags for artist, album and track name checkbox determines whether or not the MP3 created from the CD tracks data is populated with artist, album and track name. The year the album was produced, and the musical genre can be set at the same time. The Track-Adder has a mass of features that allow you to make sure your tracks go exactly where you want them to, and to prevent tracks being added that are already in your collection. For more advanced use of the Track-Adder, see Advanced Track-Adder operations. |
